Team LL and AF have been exploring the colours and style of Ancient Egyptian Art. We have been experimenting with water colours made up of Egyptian symbols. We have also combined mixed media of photographs and watercolours to experiment with profile art combining modern photos of us with traditional Egyptian style headwear and colour scheme.
In the upcoming weeks, each child in school will be producing a piece of artwork which can be ordered online and printed on various items. Items include things such as cards, wrapping paper, mugs, water bottles etc.
To purchase their child's artwork, a code will be issued to all parents/carers so that they can order items from home. Last year, school raised almost £300 thanks to the support of our parents/carers - and of course, the wonderful work of our children. ART UPDATE TEAM DB
This term we are exploring ‘Where would you like to visit in Europe?’ and the children will be working in groups to create sculptures of iconic buildings found at famous landmarks across Europe. In preparation for this we have been exploring famous landmarks and sketching them in artbooks, focussing on the architecture of the various buildings. We have been using different media to sketch our drawings, mainly using pencil, to identify the patterns used in the architecture of the buildings. We have worked using photographs of the landmarks and have begun to discuss plans for our final 3d model in our groups. Our artist of the half term is Renzo Piano and we are going to be investigating the techniques that he used to create iconic landmarks throughout Europe, implementing some of his methods and ideas into our own sculptures. Year 6s apply their knowledge and vocabulary of colour theory. They spent time analysing key pieces of art in our class gallery and talking about the impact of the colour choices of the artist.
This term Team JF have started our new unit of learning 'weather around the world', linked with our geography/science. To begin with we discussed and explored the four seasons, comparing real weather images with depictions of weather in art. From this, we started to think about the colours we may use to represent different weather types such as warm and cold colours.
