Our youngest children in school have enjoyed creating shapes using sticks. This morning, Mrs Knott visited Park Street to take a look at Maths throughout the school and to also chat with out Maths subject leaders. This is what she had to say:
'Over the last few subject audits that I have done with Mr Fidment and Mrs Bamforth, there has been huge progress made in the teaching of maths. The lessons were engaging and thought-provoking, language was used effectively by both teachers and pupils. The use and personalisation of the NCETM curriculum prioritisation materials was clear throughout school and staff had stripped lessons back to what the kids needed to learn. This meant the learning was more focused, teacher modelling was strong and the tasks required of the children were more about understanding and deepening thinking.' Well done Team Park Street. We are so proud of our children and staff. During our pattern seeking work in science we were applying and developing our measuring skills. We were also converting between metric units of measure. We then had the opportunity to look at our data and identify patterns.
Mr Fidment and Mrs Bamforth recently had a look through the children's books across school and wanted to say a massive well done to everyone for the improvement in presentation since last academic year. Well done Park Street - keep it up!
During a recent learning walk there were so many amazing things happening in maths lessons. Some of them include:
Well done Park Street! Dear Parents and Carers,
We are delighted to be supporting the NSPCC by taking part in their Number Day on Friday 4th February 2022. Children deserve an equal start in life The NSPCC believes that all children deserve a childhood free from harm but, sadly, that is not the case for many children. That is why the NSPCC is fighting for every childhood and working to help keep children safe from abuse. The NSPCC needs our support. By raising money, we can help to fund their vital services such as Childline – the helpline that’s always there for children and young people whatever their problem or concern, and the NSPCC Speak out Stay Safe Programme which aims to equip a generation of children with the knowledge and understanding they need to stay safe from abuse and neglect through delivery of assemblies and workshops in schools. Making maths meaningful Number Day is a great way to make maths fun and bring about a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude towards it. We are planning to have a variety of mathematical madness going on throughout the day!
We’re looking forward to all the fun of Number Day, and we really appreciate your support. All the money we raise at Park Street will make an enormous difference to children today and help change the lives of children tomorrow. You can find out more about the NSPCC’s work at nspcc.org.uk Many thanks for your continued support, Mr A Fidment and Mrs Firth (Maths Leads) Timestables Rockstars has been updated so that all children are in the correct class team.
Children will be coming home with a letter to confirm their username and password. Should you need any support logging on then please contact Mr Fidment or Mrs Firth. |
