A BIG well done to Team AC and Team DB for their strong attendance rates last week!
Team AC - 96.4% Team DB - 97.2% Whole school - 90.6% Remember our target is 97% - let's go for it this week Park Street! Members of our Year 4 and 5 Teams have had good success at Horizon College today, where they have taken part in a Girls Football Competition. The weather was absolutely apalling, but still the girls came back with huge smiles on their faces and Mr Smith reported that they had worked really hard and represented the school brilliantly!
Well done girls - you are on your way to the World Cup! A BIG thank you to Miss Clementson for organising the Eco-Reps to work alongside local community group TWIGGS, to help keep our local area free from litter! Our Eco-Reps once again made us very proud, by working co-operatively and sensibly with members of the TWIGGS team, to tidy up Park Street. This is a really commendable thing to do! We also thank TWIGGS for their efforts and time in supporting our children and helping to teach them about how best to look after our local community. Whilst on the pick, Jake found a £10, which he has decided to donate to charity - what a kind superstar!
Thank you also to Mrs Chavan, one of our School Governors, who has once again joined the Eco-Reps! The majority of children have received their flu vaccination today in school. Please read the leaflet which the children came home with for sign and symptoms of potential symptoms the children may have, following the nasal vaccination.
Let's hope this helps our children to not get too poorly over the winter months. Many thanks to Mrs Hitchens (PSA) and our amazing Parental Group at Park Street, for all of their efforts and enthusiasm in putting on an excellent couple of Discos. These have helped to raise funds for school, but the children absolutely LOVED their time at the Discos!
Lots of hard work goes in to organising such events, so thank you for your time and hard work! I am sure the rest of the school community will join me in thanking you too! As with lots of school events, it massively helps us when parents are able to stick to deadlines for purchasing tickets. This helps staff to be able to organise staffing and safeguarding measures in enough time, for the children to have the best time possible! Today in our Monday whole school cultural assembly, we have studied the famous person, Aretha Franklin!
We learnt all about Arertha's early life as a gospel singer and how this shaped her life. We learnt about how her father was instrumental in seeing her talents and allowing her to show these to the world! We learnt about how she was very good friends with people like Martin Luther King and supported him on his endeavours to promote equality for everyone. The children enjoyed listening to a few of her songs like RESPECT and we related this back to our Golden Rules in school. We love Aretha's songs as they promote being a good person...just like a Park Streeter does! Talk to your child about using their talents and support them in going far in life! A BIG well done to Team CM (PM) and Team AC for their strong attendance rates last week!
Team CM (PM) - 96% Team AC - 100% Whole school - 94% Remember our target is 97% - let's go for it this week Park Street! Team AC and Team CB have had an amazing time at Murton Park today. We are so lucky that the children have had this opportunity and thank you to our parents for supporting school and for making this happen! We know the trip was a costly trip, but we worked together for the good of the children and what fun they had - even though the weather was very chilly! Teachers reported that the children's behaviours were outstanding on the trip and once again our Park Streeters represented school brilliantly! Well done!
Thank you to staff for organising the trip. A big THANK YOU to Miss McGinnes who has recently held reading workshops for parents in school. They have been to inform our Reception children's parents about Read, Write, Inc and how we teach Phonics in school and also to explain how they can best support at home too. Another workshop has helped to inform parents about the Phonics Screening Check which Years 1 children will take at the end of this academic year.
Thank you to those parents who were able to come to the 2pm or 5pm workshop. If you were unable to OR would like to find out even more, please email [email protected] and Miss McGinnes will be in contact! Thank you for recognising and sharing Park Street's view that reading is an essential skill for children to have as early as possible! |
