Well done to the KS1 and KS2 children who have attended our afterschool Multiskills sessions. You have worked hard, tried a wide range of games and activities and developed some really impressive skills.

Each class has been working hard on their topics in PE! Whether it is indoor or outdoor, the children are incredibly excited when it is their PE day. It is great to see everyone working hard. We are consistently seeing less and less children forgetting their PE kit, this is brilliant news!
The children are learning new skills, working as a team whilst developing physically, mentally and socially. We will keep pushing right up until Christmas. After Christmas a new topic will await each class. In Year 6 children have been developing their basketball skills. We have been focusing on marking and defence developing the correct stance and shooting effectively after dribbling. we have been developing further our knowledge and use of key vocabulary including: intercept, target, arc and accuracy. We have also completed a classroom based unit on mindfulness as well being is about the mind as well as the body
We are excited to share a recent email from Mr Stephen Gates in relation to our efforts to promote girls' football at Park Street...
'Mr Smith and Mrs Lawson, May I offer both my congratulations and thanks for the incredible work you have done to both ensure girls in your school have equal access to both curriculum and extra-curricular football! The survey you completed in June testifies to your incredible efforts to ensure equity and parity for girls. As you know the Football Association and Youth Sport Trust have engaged me to help schools in Barnsley to achieve this by 2024. I will send your certificate shortly that acknowledges this accolade and the fact that your Roll of Honour includes the following:
Finally, I thank you on behalf of all girls in football and I'll ensure all updates come your way, including the resources to actively promote and engage schools in The FA’s Biggest Ever Football Session on Wednesday 8th March 2023. Wow! Steve Gates, Barclays Girls Football School Partnership Strategic Lead for Barnsley' Our year 5 and 6 pupils took part in a football fixture against High View. We are really proud of every single one of them. Even though the boys didn't get the result we wanted and the girls narrowly missed out on a win. They all worked their socks and put in a great shift.
Park Street Boys 1 High View Boys 3 Park Street Girls 4 High View Girls 4 It was great to see so many people supporting both games. well done to everyone involved! Mr Smith Our first sporting competition will be a football league for this academic year will be for our year 5/6 pupils. Our first match is this Thursday against High View. The matches will take place on our school field.
A team has been selected for both the boys and girls, the children know that they have to follow the school rules if they would like to stay in the selected teams. Good luck to all involved! Mr Smith Just a couple of reminders for PE as we start a new academic year. The children will be doing two hours of PE each week. One indoor and one outdoor activity, children will work on a variety of sports. Please could we remind everyone that children are to bring their PE kit on a Monday morning and then take it home on Friday evening. Children will require a white top and black shorts for indoor PE along with pumps. Additionally, they will also need black jogger bottoms or leggings, along with a black jacket or jumper to go outside with. Children will need trainers to participate in outdoor PE.
If you need any support regarding kit for PE or have any questions or queries about the subject, please get in touch! Mr Smith The children once again have done us all really proud! Everyone has done amazing in their class sports day. Some of the activities included running race, obstacle race, sack race, egg and spoon. Every class then finished with the relay race.
We found the system worked incredibly well. We wanted every child to have a go at each activity. We found the best way to do this would be doing each sports day in classes. We have had incredibly positive feedback from parents/guardians! A huge thank you to everyone for their support, we can't wait to do it all again next year! Mr Smith |
