Today we have started researching the prices of PVC banners as part of our campaign to promote road safety outside of school. We have looked at various prices on the internet and are going to take these back to Mrs Lawson. Additionally, we have also started to put together designs that we would like on our finished banner. However, this will be an ongoing task to ensure that we make the banner the best it can be.

Following on from our previous meeting about the issues we are currently having in relation to the school drive, today we have discussed potential solutions:

As School Council Leads, we have arranged a trip for the School Council to visit Barnsley Town Hall on Wednesday 3rd May 2017. The trip will leave school at 1:00pm and we will be back in school for the end of the school day at 3:15pm. The children will be transported to and from Barnsley Town Hall on the community minibus.
Our School Council members will get the chance to see the Town Hall building, learn about Barnsley Council and see how the council is run. The trip begins with refreshments in the Reception Room before heading to the Council Chamber where children will be given the chance to sit in the Council’s seats. Following this, the children will then visit the Mayor’s Parlour where they will meet the Mayor. This will give the children the chance to find out about what the Mayor does and have the opportunity to ask questions. On departure, each member of our School Council will receive a small gift. Miss Garratt and Miss Baxter We have a received an email from Mrs Lawson relating to issues on the school drive - children running down the path, vehicles parking on the turning circle and vehicles parking on the triple yellow lines at the bottom of the drive, at drop off and pick up times. We discussed these issues to look at the issues and dangers we face.

Don't forget to 'Wear it red' tomorrow in support of Red Nose Day. We would like to remind you that if you're wearing slippers then these must be sensible so that you are safe when moving around school. Also, a reminder that we have a lot of activities going off tomorrow including:
Today we started to make plans for this year's Red Nose Day and proposed a series of activities and ideas that may interest us as a school. We then shortlisted some of the most appealing activities and are now ready to propose these to Mrs Lawson. As school council members, we are also going to take these ideas back to class to see what the rest of the school think. We are hoping to have a response before our next meeting so we can begin to make arrangements and resources.
If you see us around school feel free to share your thoughts and ideas with us so that we can address these in our meetings. We will happily pass on any opinions with Miss Garratt and Miss Baxter so feel free to come and have a quick word.
