Class blog 22-23
Today we have had so much fun celebrating World Book Day! First we read "Alice and Wonderland" because all the adults in class were dressed as characters from the book. Miss Clementson was the Queen of Hearts, Miss Hodgson The March Hair and Miss Hanson The Mad Hatter. One of Team CW also dressed as Alice in Wonderland to complete the characters from the story! Team CW love reading and enjoyed telling the class about their favourite character and their favourite book. Here are some of their comments;
"I like Power Rangers they save the day!" "I like Alice because she shrinks and grows very big." "Sponge Bob is my favourite because he lives under the sea." "He's a dog. He rescues people!" (Scooby Doo.) "My favourite character is Little Red Riding Hood because the Big Bad Wolf eats granny!" "He bumps his head when he falls off the ball and his hat goes flying off his head!" (The Cat in the Hat) "The fox rescues the mole from the water and is kind." "I like him 'cos he's silly and he likes chocolate like me!" (Willy Wonka) "He goes on the ceiling. He's a superhero and saves people from bad guys. The Joker tries to get people. The Sandman disappears!" (Spiderman.) We were really lucky to have Team JD come and read our favourite books with us. They brought their favourite books too and read some of them to us. It was lovely to see all the children so engaged and passionate about reading. Miss Crossfield also visited us and read us her favourite story "Albert Upside Down." It was lovely to listen to her read and we hope she can come back soon! We completed some special activities to show our love for reading. These included writing stories about ourselves during provision time, making masks of our favourite characters, using puppets to retell traditional tales and a book hunt. We also learnt the words "villain" and "hero" and could identify these characters when our friends were telling us about their character. We have had a lovely day today and will continue with our love of reading as we progress through the year.
