Team JD have been focussing on The Anglo-Saxon period of British history in recent weeks, beginning with an exciting archaeological dig to find artefacts of the Sutton Hoo dig site!

During Science Week, Team JD focussed on the key question 'What happens to a piece of bread if you leave it on the windowsill for two weeks?'.
Team JD observed the bread over the two week period, making predictions of what the condition of the bread would be like, taking photos to record any changes, assessing the condition of the bread after time had passed and finally making comparisons with our predictions and the results. Team JD thoroughly enjoyed analysing the bread and sharing in an experiement which required us to observe over time. Well done, Team JD! As part of our weekly timetable, each class through school has designated Incredible Me time where we develop upon our PHSE objectives and embed secure relationships. Over the last few weeks, we have been developing teamwork skills, particularly focussing on turn-taking and sharing responsibility - such as Team JD's Lego Master Challenge. The children all really enjoy learning to work as a team, and get the opportunity to build resilience in a healthy, competitive environment. Well done, Team JD! Team JD had the exciting opportunity to invite some of our parents into school for a one-off workshop morning.
We were focussed on creating a piece of writing to describe a winter wonderland scene, and we used our local environment to inspire our pieces - we ventured down to the nature reserve to record all of the senses we could include in our writing. It was lovely to see all the children engaging with the outdoor space and appreciating the amazing areas Park Street has to offer! Well done Team JD! In this week's literacy sessions, we have been creating our very own newspaper articles focussed on the fictional event of The Iron Woman attacking a small, coastal village.
In this week's maths lessons, Team JD focussed on calculating perimeters using countable units such as rectilinear manipulatives.
