Today, our Year 6 Teams LL and AF have visited Crucial Crew in Rotherham. There, they learnt about key life skills and what to do if they were ever in danger. This is a fantastic day our which teaches all about safety, democracy, the rule of law, online safety, safeguarding and also challenges the children by putting them in situations they have never been in before, encouraging thinking skills and decision making! An excellent day out.
Mrs Longden reported that our Year 6s behaved impeccably well, using outstanding manners and also listened attentively, putting their all in to everything they did! Well done Year 6 - so proud and pleased you had an amazing day! Thank you to staff for organising this for the children.

A BIG well done to Team JD and Team AF for their strong attendance rates last week!
Team JD - 99.2% Team AF - 99.2% Whole school - 95.6% Remember our target is 97% - let's go for it this week Park Street! A really big well done to Miss McGinnes, our Assistant Headteacher and Reading Leader, who has been awarded with the title of EYFS EAL Champion for Barnsley!
Over the last year or so, Miss McGinnes has worked hard as part of the EAL Champion project and has been at the forefront of professional development for herself and the school. I was very proud to be invited to The Fairway tonight, to see her be awarded this title! Well done Miss McGinnes! This was something which Miss McGinnes was very passionate about doing, as we have a rising number of children attending Park Street with English as an Additional Language (EAL) and she wanted to make sure that we, as a school, were doing everything we possibly could to engage such children and support them as best we possibly can. WELL DONE and THANK YOU Miss McGinnes! Our Year 6s have enjoyed visiting their local Secondary School, Netherwood, with staff this afternoon. This provided them with a taster for secondary school life, now they have all applied for the Secondary School of their choice. The afternoon gave them lots of food for thought and helped a few questions they all had, get answered! Thank you Netherwood for offering this event to our Year 6s. It is so important to support our children with early transition opportunities, so that they are as prepared as possible for the next chapter in their lives.
This Friday, as part of our 'Feel Good Friday' to support wellbeing, our school all wore 'Wear it Red' to help raise awareness of racism and to support 'stamping it out'.
Each class focused further on the importance of equality and diversity (to end our Diversity and Inclusion Week in school). We celebrated why we were all wearing red and the importance behind always treating each other fairly. The children really enjoyed the day and of course they were fully supportive of the important messages learnt during the day (and week). A BIG thank you to Mrs Longden who organised our school's Harvest Festival today. Parents, children and the wider school community have been incredibly generous in their efforts to collect as much Harvest Festival food as possible! The display in the entrance of school was phenomenal! Well done all!
Thank you to our Governors, Mrs Milner, Mrs Riley and Mrs Rose who joined the children and staff in celebrating today! We enjoyed an amazing assembly, learning all about the Harvest Festival and what it means to different people across the world. Our Harvest donations this year will be shared with our local Salvation Army and also with our in-school food bank, to help support our more vulnerable families, on an ongoing basis. Well done TEAM Park Street and what an EPIC Harvest Samba celebration performance! Today, Aliza and Zunaira have fund raised for our school! They have put on a 'wear it autumnal day' for our school, as part of our Harvest Festival, to raise money for a table tennis table in school. This 'wear it autumnal day' is just the start of the girls' efforts in raising money for this cause, which they are incredibly invested in.
We look forward to their money raisers moving forward and commend them for the efforts and enthusiasm moving forwards - £90+ already girls! Well done TEAM Park Street! This week in our cultural significant person study whole school assembly, children learnt about Dwayne Johnson and what a significant person he is today. They learnt about his early life growing up living within a wrestling family and community and about how hard he worked for his successes. They read and discussed some key quotes from Dwayne and also watched a clip showing him speak at the celebration launch for his star on the Walk of Fame. They learnt that 'it is nice to be important, but more important to be nice'! What an inspiring person to learn more about, especially in a week when the golden rule is 'do work hard'!
Talk to your child about the importance of having a good, positive, kind and loving attitude towards others and working hard to achieve success. A huge well done to the children who achieved 100% attendance last school year! They enjoyed a special lunch out at Pizza Hut today as a reward! Mrs Hitchens (PSA), Mrs Green (Attendance Lead) and myself all had an amazing time with the children - unlimited drinks, pizza and salad! The children, of course, all behaved impeccably well and had excellent manners towards the staff at Pizza Hut. We had lots of fun and laughed a lot!
Well done to: Raine, Cody-Jay, Jenson, Jamie; Charlie, Heath, Trafford, Aliza, Zunaira and Lewis! Go for it again this year! A BIG well done to Team CH and Team DB for their strong attendance rates last week!
Team CH - 96% Team DB - 98.6% Whole school - 93.5% Remember our target is 97% - let's go for it this week Park Street! |
