I would like to remind parents about Park Street's 'Feel Good Fridays'. We began these last year and experienced great success and feedback! Every other Friday, children and staff are invited to attend school in sporty gear for the day and each Team completes a sporty activity in the interest of raising the understanding of how important it is to keeping fit and healthy and to improve everyone's mental health and wellbeing.
The 'Feel Good Fridays' this half term are: 12.11.21 26.11.21 10.12.21 ENJOY Park Street! On the 8th October we were very happy to welcome Kings Oak PLC's football teams to Park Street for the afternoon! we were really fortunate to have good weather and so invited parents long too to watch. It was lovely to see so many parents enjoying their child's school experience once again. All the children behaved impeccably well and represented the school with pride.
We will be holding some fund raising events in school in the coming months to purchase more school kit for future matches! Mrs Chavan (PE Lead Governor) and Mrs Firth / Mr in school have some excellent ideas which the children will love - watch this space! A big thank you to children in Team JD and Team DB who visited Wombwell to look at the sites! This was part of their topic to compare Wombwell to the coastal town of Whitby. The children behaved impeccably well on their walk around our local area and were full of chatter on their return - i learnt lots from them! Team LF will complete their walk soon too. Thank you for representing the school so brilliantly.
A huge well done and thank you to the boys and girls in Teams JD, DB, LF, AF and LL who all represented school brilliantly on the recent Cross Country! This was the first sporting trip back for a long while and it was fantastic to see the smiles on the children's face when they returned! I heard their behaviours and attitudes were excellent, which I am very proud of. A special mentions to Teddy in Team JD and Billy in Team AF for their outstanding effort and positive attitudes to succeeding!
We have had the pleasure of Mr Gates, Chairperson of Barnsley Boys Football, visiting school this morning for our Golden Book assembly. He attended school to reward our very talented George in Team AF with his red Barnsley Boys tie! He spoke about how talented George was and how he had worked incredibly hard to show his talents - 200 children went to trial and he was within the top 16 successful children! George's mum visited school for the big celebration. We wish you lots of good luck George - we are so incredibly proud and pleased! We are sure you will take this role very seriously and set a fantastic example for others to follow.
Well done Team Park Street for your efforts today in National Poetry Day! It was so lovely to have visitors from many classes yesterday, sharing their final poems! A special well done to Team CH for their poem about me and also to Willow, Scarlett and Amelia in Team JD for their performances! They were all so individual and showed great learning from the day! Well done Team Park Street!
It was a pleasure to see how well Year 3 listened to the Fire Wardens who came to speak to them about Fire Safety today! The children listened incredibly well and engaged with the wardens, taking what they were saying seriously. I was impressed with how responsible they were. It was interesting to chat to them afterwards about their learning - well done Year 3!
This year our dedicated staff team have requested that instead of children buying us gifts, that they donate food or a Christmas present to school, for us to give to a family in need this Christmas time. We have been blown away by your generosity! Mrs Hitchens and Mrs Fitchett have been able to ensure all families have what they need this Christmas time and will be delivering packages from tomorrow. We have also been able to use our school's foodbank to make up hampers to raffle off, to raise money for school funds. Once again team work is making the dream work Park Street! Well done and thank you to all involved!
Laila in Team GG has successfully raised a whopping £800 for the Little Princess Trust! What an amazing achievement and for such a worthwhile charity. We couldn't be more proud of you Laila! Laila hasn't just stopped there though! She has had her beautiful long hair cut short and is donating her hair too! Such a brave, courageous and kind member of Team Park Street! WOW!
