Over the last half term Team CB have been working hard to develop their netball and gymnastics skills.
In netball, the main focus has been on working to develop skills linked to passing and catching a netball. The class have had to think carefully about using the correct footwork, as well as skills such as dodging, marking and shooting. They have then applied these skills into a competitive netball game, where they were able to demonstrate their understanding of the rules. In their gymnastics sessions, they have been performing sequences with low and medium level shapes, including pike, straddle, arch, dish and tuck. They have also created contrasting shapes where they have incorporated matching, mirroring and linking skills. In more recent weeks, they have been performing such shapes both on and off apparatus as well as developing our knowledge of balances and rolls. During their gymnastics lessons this half term, Team LF have worked on being able to perform forward rolls and backwards rolls with a range of entrances and exits. Some of Team LF have found this to be quite challenging but as they have continued practising they are making progress. Last week, they used what they had learnt so far and incorporated a range of rolls into a routine. A few members of the team were confident to perform their routine in front of others and what a grand job they did!
On Thursdays, Team LF have attended swimming lessons at Hoyland Leisure Centre. The progress the have made in such a short space of time is unbelievable! Some of Team LF have removed their arms bands, some have progressed to the larger pool and some have even made it into the deep end. Although the children are all at different stages, each and every person has made progress and we cannot wait to see what is achieved by the end of the summer term! @BarnsleyTTC, we can't wait for you to see our Table Tennis posters in person. Two members of Team LF have put in a great deal of effort and we are so proud of their work! #TableTennisinBarnlsey #OutstandingCommunity We are excited to inform you that our school has been lucky enough to secure 10 free places at this year’s Sheffield Fun Run. The run is approximately 2.5km. The event will take place on: Sunday 27th March 2022 - 10:00am at Arundel Gate, Sheffield. All finishers will be rewarded with a goody bag and an all-important medal to show off to family and friends. Usually, there is an entrance fee for participation in the event; however, we have been offered 10 free places and feel it is too good an opportunity to miss. If you would like your child to participate, the 10 free places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. If you would like your child to participate, please contact Mrs Firth or Mr Smith before Friday 11th March 2022. This is the final date that the school can enter runners. If your child is lucky enough to be allocated one of the 10 free places they will receive a letter with further information about the event. Information about the event can be found at: https://www.runforall.com/events/fun-runs/sheffield-fun-run/ ![]()
Our oldest children enjoyed some extreme PE - with lots of amazing outdoor and adventurous activities on our residential trip to Robinwood. The children demonstrated: resilience, teamwork and listening skills. We were so proud to see each child push themselves to overcome their fears and achieve so brilliantly - a credit to Park Street.
