It was great to see school to school football matches resuming today at Park Street. Well done to our Y5/6 boys and girls teams for your brilliant sportsmanship.

A reminder to parent/carers that tomorrow we have some children from Years 5 and 6 playing against Kings Oak Primary. Please can parents/carers ensure children bring their kit (as suggested on the initial letter). We look forward to seeing some of you at the side of the pitch to cheer us on.
Following the success of last year’s ‘Feel Good Fridays’, we will be continuing with this fortnightly event as of next week (see dates below). Taking the current weather into consideration and the need for ventilation around school, we would advise that children come dressed appropriately in something warm, for example sports jogging bottoms and a sports jumper. During ‘Feel Good Friday’, all year groups will engage in some form of physical activity throughout the day, whether it be the Daily Mile or another sporting activity in class. For the classes completing the daily mile, Mr Smith will be marking out the route for the children, the idea being that the children run, jog, walk and keep moving during their allocated time. Staff will be joining in also, encouraging lots of sports discussion and language during the mile. The dates in which ‘Feel Good Friday’ will run are: September - 24th October - 8th, 22nd November - 12th, 26th December - 10th January - 7th, 21st February - 4th, 18th March - 4th, 18th April - 1st May - 6th, 20th June - 10th, 24th July - 8th ![]()
As you will know, last half term, the PE team began raising money to improve our outdoor PE provision for the whole school through an ice-lolly sale. We would like to thank you all for your support with this.
This Thursday (8th July), our fundraising continues with 'Beat the Goalie’. We would like to invite the children and staff to take on Mr Smith in a penalty shootout activity, for a cost of 20p per shot or £1 for 6 shots. We hope that this will be a fun activity for the children which puts Mr Smith’s goalie skills to the test. Beat the Street is a FREE community challenge! Local schools, families, workplaces, community groups and individuals compete to see who can walk, run, cycle, scoot, and roll the furthest by the end of the game. Winning teams win hundreds of pounds worth of prizes! Click on the file below to see how to play. ![]()
Due to Friday's inset day we are holding 'Feel Good Friday' tomorrow. Children an staff are invited to come dressed in sportswear and will be taking part in some form of physical activity.
During the final two weeks of this half term (starting from 17th May), we will be selling a variety of ice-lollies throughout the morning break times. All ice-lollies will be at a cost of 50p per lolly.
The money raised during this time will then be used to improve our outdoor PE provision for the whole school. If your child has any allergies or you do not want your child to spend money on ice-lollies, please ensure your child’s class teacher is aware of this beforehand. We would like to inform you that we have registered for our school to participate in ‘Sustrans BIG PEDAL 2021’, an active challenge running from 19th -30th April 2021. Sustrans Big Pedal aims to inspire pupils, staff and parents to take active journeys to school. On each day of the challenge, schools compete to see who can get the highest percentage of their pupils, staff and parents, cycling, walking, wheeling or scooting to school. Each school’s best five days will determine their final position in the challenge. Schools will also be entered into a daily prize for rewards including equipment and accessories if over 15% of the school community cycle, walk, wheel or scoot on that day of the challenge. Want to know how the challenge will work for Park Street? Have a look at the attached letter below. ![]()
Well done to Team JF who worked extremely hard in their tennis lesson this afternoon. The children participated in a couple of warm up games to prepare them for the main activity. We worked on making our forehand shot more controlled.
The children worked with a partner in a range of exercises to help improve their control whilst performing a forehand shot. It was a great lesson with lots of smiles on everyone’s faces! High standards as always in every single class regarding PE. Keep it up Team JF. Mr Smith We all know that being physically active is important, not just our physical wellbeing but for our mental wellbeing as well. Team+ have been inspired and motivated to help children and adults to achieve the best physical activity levels possible, which is why they have created ‘My Move My Way’. This new physical activity challenge is designed to encourage children and adults to be as physically as possible. Within ‘My Move My Way’, the concept of Personal Challenge is important. By having a self-led opportunity, it gives us the chance to attempt to improve our own personal performance. ‘My Move My Way’ can take place anywhere and at any time. How you/your child chooses to complete the ‘My Move My Way’ challenge should be personal to you/them, and gives you/them a great way of getting fit. Find out more about how you/your child can participate by taking a look at the letter below. ![]()
