David Walliams is a much loved author amongst children at Wombwell Park Street. The children love the humour within his books and unique way in which he tells his stories. Over the course of home learning, he has provided Elevenses which has given our children the chance to listen to some of his funniest stories from home.
This serves as an excellent addition to home learning as our students can experience listening to others read the story; providing chance for modelling of intonation and expression, as well as allowing them to further focus on comprehending the direction of the story and the plot. Should you want to take a listen, why not catch on this week's audio clips using the link below. https://www.worldofdavidwalliams.com/elevenses-catch-up/ You could also try BBC Bitesize for some work linked to David Walliams Slime where you take reading into writing. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zqpx8hv Those busy behind the scenes at Read, Write, Inc Phonics have just updated us with some pretty spectacular news... their Youtube Lessons will continue right until the end of August. This is fantastic news and a really brilliant resource to continue to have available for any parents/carers who wish to continue some practice of this whilst at home over the Summer holidays.
Should you want to continue to access this, all you need to do is access their page using the following link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ We know learning from home is currently far different to what we are all used to, but here are some great resources which may be able to support the teaching of Reading and Writing. They are designed from Years 1 - 6 and offer a great range of content. We hope these help!
Here are this week's resources for Literacy learning should you need to access any. We hope these are helping support both reading and writing at home! Dip in to whichever year group suits.
Should you continue to need further resources to ensure reading and writing are regularly practiced at home, here are Week 8's resources for your viewing. They include Years 1 - 6 so please select those which you feel are most appropriate!
Once again, we find ourselves approaching another half term holiday. Sadly, the last half term has been anything other than our usual start to the Summer terms, but that said, we could not be more proud of each and every member of the Park Street TEAM! Students have worked hard to adjust to learning from home, staff have continued to offer support in any way they can and parents have been fantastic in all of this!
We truly hope that you all have a very well deserved half term holiday, where you can rest and relax with family and enjoy what will hopefully be some lovely sunshine! Stay safe, Miss Baxter and Miss McGinnes Are you lucky enough to have a garden? Have you been spending more time in it, getting all green-fingered? If so - or if you need some inspiration - check out the Book Trust's list of lovely books about plants and gardens using the link below:
https://www.booktrust.org.uk/booklists/p/plants-and-gardens/ As we enter Week 7 of the lockdown, please find attached more Literacy based resources which should support your child's learning at home. These combine both reading and writing skills and therefore serve to cover both key strands of Literacy.
Week 6 of home learning and here are yet some more brilliant resources to keep those young minds active and alert! We hope you find them useful!
