A huge thank you to those parents who came and attended the Year 3-5 parental support workshop for reading last night. It was lovely to engage with you and share the progress we have made in our approach to reading as well as offering support and strategies which may help at home. For any who did not manage to make the drop ins yesterday we will aim to repeat this in February for those wishing to attend. Attached below are the PowerPoints from the session for your convenience and resources you may find handy. Many thanks for your continued support. ![]()

Just a quick message to say how proud we are of all our Park Street pupils. The students have all made a tremendous start to the academic year and have given their absolute all during phonics and reading. Love of reading has been clear to see throughout school. Children are excited by stories and want to share these with their friends or adults. New Literacy stimuli have engrossed and captured children's interests and feedback from parents has been great. We are certain that our fabulous bunch will offer just the same enthusiasm next term but for now we wish you all a restful Christmas.
With that in mind, one final point to note is that our termly reading newsletter has been sent out today. Be sure to check it out and find examples of Christmas reading challenges you can complete with your child! This week through school staff have been busy assessing children on Read, Write Inc. They have done an absolutely incredible job at demonstrating all that they have learned this half term! The progress is clear to see and children are proving daily just how independent and fluent they are becoming as readers. Well done Team Park Street.
Throughout school it has been a hive of activity as our children are busy preparing for the upcoming Christmas performances for parents. Our children right from EYFS to KS2 have demonstrated phenomenal reading skills as they have been learning lines, reciting poems and retelling the story of Christmas. We know our parents are going to be bowled over by these fantastic performances. Be sure to comment on how well our children do as they project their voices and perform with confidence for all to hear!

This week Miss McGinnes has been busy working with the parents of our Key Stage 1 children offering support and guidance around the Phonics Screening Check. These sessions were held both in and outside of school hours to accommodate all parents needs. If you are interested in attending future sessions planned across the academic year please do continue to keep up to date with the newsletter and emails which will include further details.
What an incredible end to the week! Today marked the first "We love words" day at Park Street and what a success it was. The whole school looked absolutely outstanding dressed as their words. Costumes were planned with the greatest care and exceptionally creative. Throughout the day just a few of the words spotted were "Entomology", "Fragile", "Identical" and "Counter shading". Children truly rose to the occasion and awards were given for most best costumes and best word. Most importantly of all, the school was a buzz of noise around new words and their meanings. Children relished participating in their vocabulary parade (some were even spotted strutting their stuff in the nature reserve) and demonstrating what their word meant. Thank you Team Park Street for ALWAYS rising to the challenge. We loved to hear you all teaching, learning and applying new vocabulary!
Just a quick reminder, that next week is our very first "We love words day". The children through school are so excited about this event and I have heard the secret whisperings of some of the outfits that they intend to wear and I am certain it will be a phenomenal day. For anyone wishing to gather further information, attached is the letter which has gone out around the event. ![]()
