We have started a new topic in Team AC's Spanish sessions - The seasons. Today we made some posters to show what we have learnt so far.
Today we have set up some experiments that we will measure over time.
The first one is called the naked egg. We placed an egg in a jar and filled it with white vinegar and we will observe what happens over the space of a week. Initially we saw lots of bubbles on the eggshell so we assumed that the acid in the vinegar was dissolving the shell. The second experiment is to look at bacterial growth. We sliced some potato and placed them into zip lock bags. Into bag 1 we placed a slice of potato that had been coughed on. Into bag 2 we placed a slice of potato that had been rubbed on the floor. In bag three we placed a slice of potato that had been rubbed on someone's hands. Into bag 4 we placed a slice of potato with some flour. I wonder what the slices of potato will look like after a week? What would you expect to see? Watch this space...
In music this half term the children have been learning a song about dinosaurs and how to play a simple accompaniment using the xylophones. Great work Team AC!
This week we have been:
In literacy - reading Grim Wood and learning to write dialogue using speech marks. In maths - Learning to find quarters, 3 quarters, thirds and learning the difference between unit and non unit fractions. In Music - We have been learning the tune hot cross buns on the xylophone and looking at the notes on music paper. In Spanish - We have been revising our key phrases such as how to say hello and what is your name. The pictures above are of wear a silly hat day and of choosing time where we had a build a bridge competition in teams. The start of our new half term saw Team AC learning about Shrove Tuesday. They found out what it is, why it is known as 'pancake day' and how it is celebrated in different parts of the UK. After their work in class the children had loads of fun showing off their pancake tossing skills as they competed in pancake races on the school field.
