The Fearless Flyers have been working really hard this week and have been busy learning about why we have seasons. They have also been looking at the weather forcast and recognising the changes that are occuring as we enter Autumn.
In Maths the children have been practising counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and they have been using their knowledge of partititioning to solve problems. In literacy the children have been reading the story of the Three Little Wolves and have been comparing it to the story of the Three Little Pigs. They have also been learning about nouns and proper nouns. For homework this week can you write a weather forcast for the weekend or draw a picture of the weather to show what it has been like.

What a busy week! Our classroom is looking bright and colourful now and we are all settled into the new routine.
In Literacy we have been reading the story of the Three Little Pigs. We have talked about the characters and we have worked on sequencing events from the story. In Maths we have focused on counting and we have began to represent numbers using tens and ones. We have also learnt some new songs: Have you ever had a penguin come to tea?/Autumn Days. Our homework is to choose a character from the three little pigs, draw them and write three sentences about them focusing on using CL, FS and finger spaces. Team AK have had an extremely busy half term! We enjoyed learning about different materials, including how they are used, changed and recycled. We also went around school looking for what particular materials had been used for. In maths, we have done lots of practical activities to reinforce our concepts of number and we also solved problems in teams, talking through our thinking with each other. In literacy, we have worked on lots of skills, including the correct uses of apostrophes and adding suffixes to words. We have worked on re-telling stories and writing some of our own, using adjectives to make them interesting. Of course, this included the Nativity story! Our own Nativity, ‘Born in a Barn’ was a huge success, even if we say so ourselves. The children did all of us and themselves proud. Enjoy some well-deserved time with your children and bring them back well rested and ready for lots more learning!
Mrs King. All the children have now settled into their new class and we have been very busy this term. Our focus for literacy has been Traditional Stories where we have looked at lots of different stories. We have read stories, acted out stories, Looked at the different characters, settings, and talked about what is the same and what is different about them.
In maths we have looked at place value and we are starting to see how this helps us with our addition and subtraction. We have really enjoyed looking at our local area and what can be found there. We have also looked at different materials and sorted what things are made out of. |
