Maths
This week, the children have worked hard to consolidate and apply their knowledge of the four operations. We started off by recapping our knowledge of addition and subtraction using the column method. From this, we moved into applying our skills when solving worded problems! As the week progressed, we moved into the same process but using multiplication and division. Literacy This week, Team JF started a new unit of learning! We started by reading the non fiction book 'The Big Book of the Blue'. This is a fantastic book providing lots of interesting facts about sea creatures. From this, we decided we loved exploring life under the sea and we would like to teach some of the younger children of CH too! We then started to look at features of non fiction texts and begin our skill building in preparation for our writing! Science We kicked off a new half term by focusing on our enquiry focus, observation over time. We worked in small groups to plant some cress seeds and place them in different positions and conditions around the classroom. We decided to test cress with water and sunlight, with sunlight but no water, with no light and water and finally, with no light or water. We will check in again next week to observe the changes we see!
