This term we are exploring natural disasters and will be working in groups to create models based on natural disasters. In preparation for this we have been exploring images and the impact of natural disasters. We have worked on mixed media drawing incorporating photographic images and have begun to discuss plans for our final 3d model in our groups.
Our artist of the half term is JMW Turner we have been exploring his techniques for representing extreme weather in his artwork. As part of our computing lesson, we have been using Purple Mash for coding. We first started by coding a game called ‘Splatty Bug’. We had to create an algorithm so that the timer would work, the player would get a score and the bugs would splat if you clicked them. We then made these our own and changed the background and some other aspects. Throughout this, we used our computing skills to debug any errors. Here is an example:
After receiving a letter from Alex Rider Y6 were tasked with unpicking the text and using their inference skills to suggest pros and cons for taking the mission. In groups children created a diamond 9 of poins and explained their choices.

Then children have enjoyed using Cuisenaire rods to develop and show there understanding. We are really proud of the learning that has taken place and how well the children have presented their understanding! LiteracyIn our Literacy learning this week we started off with a challenge! The children were challenges to write a description of a volcanic eruption.
