I have loved every second of our first half term together! Thank you so much Team CH for being the incredible young learners that you are. I hope you all enjoy your well deserved rest. Be safe and I will see you very soon!
This week Team CH have been working towards their autumn objective of being able to add the suffix 's' to a root word. We really enjoyed talking and writing about all the things we are thankful for!
This week Team CH have been working towards being able to name and recognise different feelings. First, we observed a variety of pictures displaying a range of emotions and focused on answering questions such as, “how is this person feeling?” “How do you know they are feeling this way?” and “What makes you feel this way?”. Next we tried matching a person to the correct emotion and discussed why we thought they were angry, sad or happy. Finally we drew faces to display a wide range of emotions.
We also talked about ways we could change our emotions, if we were feeling angry or sad about something. This week Team CH have worked incredibly hard to get into school. We scored 96% out of 100! amazing! we also won the £5 prize for the second week running. Well done team CH, SO PROUD!
This week in Literacy we have been very excited! We received a letter from the king of the Low Valley, he was worried that the daring dragon Zog was going to kidnap the beautiful Princess Pearl. Team CH set about acquiring and developing the skills needed to write a descriptive piece of writing to warn others what Zog looks like.Team CH would like to celebrate the amazingly beautiful handwriting of these three stars this week! This week in RE we have been exploring Hinduism and the widely celebrated festival of Diwali. Team CH really enjoyed listening to, sequencing and retelling the story of Rama and Sita. This week in math's we have been practicing rounding to the nearest ten. As we focus on numbers 0-100, we zoned in on multiples of ten and looked at vocabulary such as, between, previous and next. First, we encouraged children to identify what multiples of ten a person lives between, then an object and finally a number. As we continued to explore the previous and next multiple of tens, we removed the tens from out number line and found the previous and next multiples of ten without the visual help. Finally, we played a game using dice to show our understanding of which multiples of ten numbers sit between on a number line. Team CH have been exploring how the earth spins and how the sun stays till. We looked at our shadows and observed how they changed throughout the day. We noticed in the morning our shadows were small but in the afternoon they were longer. We explored shadows further by using globes and torches to show how it can be day in parts of the world but night in the other part. Also we used a Lego man to show how when that moves further away from the sun, the shadows in that place get longer, and then it turns into dusk and then night time.
