Team CH begin our learning by re-telling the story of the legend of Chinese New Year. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z9k996f/articles/z2byvwx. After this, we talked about things we might expect to see. Things like loud noises, bright red colours and flames, all things that keep the Monster Nian away during the New Year celebrations in China. Next, we listened to a video about a 12-year-old girl, named Angela who is from China. Angela explained why The Chinese New Year is so important, when and how it is celebrated. We were able to make lots of connections to the story and to what Angela was showing us. We also noticed some things we do the same during our new year celebrations, like spending time with family and watching the fireworks. Finally, we Re told a familiar story about the 12 animals that raced for the honor to have a year named after them and we attempted to write the Chinese word for Rabbit.

Today Team CH have been exploring 2D shapes within 3D shapes. First, we described our shapes and thought about the vertices, types of lines and how many faces our 3D shapes has. Next, we shined a light at our 3D shapes to reveal a shadow, from this shadow we were able to identify the 2D shapes. Team CH have been talking about the PANTS rule; Privates are private. Always remember your body belongs to you. No means no. Talk about secrets that upset you. Speak up, someone can help. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SzbMEVYiyg&t=116s
Team CH have been using a collection of 3D shapes, e.g. cylinders, cuboids (including cubes), spheres and pyramids, alongside pictures everyday objects, e.g. tins, boxes, snack tubes. In groups we matched the shapes to the objects we might find at home and talked about why some shapes remind us of everyday objects and how they are different. |
As part of our history topic Team CH have been exploring Stirling Castle. Here are a few drawings of our own castles. | |
