Today we have been finding all the different ways to compose alternative shapes. For example, composing a hexagon by using two trapezium and a rhombus from other pattern block pieces. Additionally, we have used pattern blocks to fill bigger shapes focusing on rotating pieces, and paying careful attention to aligning the edges of pieces.

Once again, we have won the attendance prize of £5. Brilliant effort by all to be in school!Today we have explored how castle have developed and the reasons behind their development.
Team CH have been learning the twelve months of the year. We spoke about how months are measurements of time, that consists of 28 or 30 days. Next, we sang along to a song that helped us remember the order of the months. Using this song, we then ordered the months of the year correctly. After this, we explored pictures that reminded us of the four seasons and matched key vocabulary to a season. Finally, after lots of talk we matched months into seasons. This week in math's children have been comparing objects using mathematical symbols to express these relationships. We have also been verbalizing the comparisons that we have been making.
Team CH have spent the afternoon thinking about people that have helped us. People such as solders, doctors, nurses, firefighters and paramedics. We talked about Mervyn Kersh a solider who fought in the second world war, Nicole Brown who is part of the Royal Navy and Joan Bunn who was a firefighter during the second world war. We also looked at other ways of remembrance such as visiting the SIKH WAR MEMORIAL , wearing a poppy and holding a minute silence. This week in Literacy the children were introduced to one of Judith Kerr's most famous books, 'The tiger who came to tea'. Team CH loved putting the Jigsaw pieces together to reveal their new book. Once the children had discovered the text we all sat down to listen to the story. We enjoyed repeating favourite phrases such as 'would you like'. Finally we talked about the characters in the story and the problem. |
