During PE this week, we were focusing on Rugby. We were looking at moving around the court, Maneuvering through the cones to get the points, we then used the rugby ball placing in down when the whistle went. Allowing someone else to come along and grab the rugby and earn points.
We were looking at moving with control with a ball in our hands using the correct handling position, control in a variety of directions with the ball our hands, using the correct handling position, speed, movement, and precision. We really enjoyed learning new skills linked to rugby.

This week in Team JD are looking at composing (making) and decomposing (picking apart) 4-digit numbers. Today, we have worked hard to understand the value of each digit using concrete manipulatives (number counters).
Team JD thoroughly enjoyed the physical aspect of the learning and working together in pairs, to solve subtraction problems related to the 4-digit numbers. Fantastic work, Team JD! During computing this week, we learnt about the internet and how reliable information is. We did a team exercise where we shared true and false facts with each other in class. We then, shared the same information again with other children in class. Demonstrating that information can be shared quickly, not knowing where the true source of the information came from. The information can be true or false and is not always proven.
demonstrating that sharing or reading information online is always accurate. During literacy we learnt about kenning poems. First we learnt the key features of a kenning poem. We then, had to explain what a kenning poem was. We practiced creating our own simple kenning poetry. Finally we delivered our poem to the full class. We then, had to guess what we wrote our poem about. Have a look at some of our examples. What am I? Our learning objective during our science experiment was to understand how shadows change when a light source is closer and further away. A shadow can change size depending on the distance the object casting it is from the light source. Shadows can also be elongated or shortened depending on the angle of the light source.
The children had to decide which equipment would be best to use for the experiment and write down their prediction of what they thought would happen to the shadow when the item moved closer paper. They then, had chance to work in groups to find out the results, writing down the size of the shadow at ten centimetre increments. Soon after, we discussed in groups our findings and then wrote out method and conclusion. We loved it in the dark using the torches, we found the experiment so interesting. We are very fortunate to have Mr Kelly come into school every week to teach us how to play the ukulele. We have learnt how to hold the ukulele, tilting it upwards and holding it against our chest. Understanding the different strings and chords used to make sounds. We have learnt lots of amazing short songs and melodies each week.
The ukuleles going home very Monday at the end of the day, and should be brought back in the following Monday. Ask your child to play you 'London Bridge is falling down'. Let us know they get on, they could even play it for the all class during 'show and tell'. |
