THE LEGENDARY LEARNERS
Team LL thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the Lifewise Centre for their Crucial Crew visit. The children had the opportunity to work with representatives from South Yorkshire emergency services, St.John's ambulance and Transport South Yorkshire. The children took part in a range of activities and scenarios learning about the dangers of knife crime, hate crimes, child criminal exploitation, arson, hoax calls and anti-social behaviour. The children had the opportunity to take part in a juvenile court role play, try out their first aid skills and found out about how to prevent house fires and how to stay safe. The day was really important and the children thoroughly enjoyed it.

Hurray! Team LL have managed to collect (as a class) over 1000 Dojos. As a reward the pupils enjoyed a dress down day this week. The class hare now working hard towards their 5000 Dojo milestone.
At the end of a very successful and incredibly hard working first half term Team LL have completed some outstanding literacy workbased on our class novel - Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz.
We have completed a range of written pieces including: letters of advice to Alex, detailed and technical descriptions of spy gadgets and the class have just completed some very impressive descriptions of Alex's journey through the Dozmary Mine. In reading we have have had a focus on vocabulary: identifying and establishing the impact of author's choice of language. We have also been developing our inference skills. In particular, working on giving and explaining with evidence our impressions of characters and settings from the text. Keep up the great work Team LL!!! Year 6 have been learning all about factors, multiples, square numbers and prime numbers. We came up with a range of questions?
Are all prime numbers odd? Can all square numbers be made from prime numbers? How many rules can we use to identify prime numbers? As part of our science work on electricity and circuits, pupils formulated a range of investigation questions to test.
What happens when you add additional wires to a circuit? Does the number of cells in a circuit impact on the brightness of bulbs? What happens when you add additional bulbs to a circuit? An example of just some of our scientific questions. Year 6 enjoyed role playing restaurants and cafes in our French lesson today. We used key phrases to ask for and give our food orders
Qu’est-ce que vous prenez? Je voudrais… S’il vous plaît. C’est combien? Qu’est-ce que vous allez boire? Not only did we have lots of fun but we enjoyed tasting a range of French food. YUM! |
