THE LEGENDARY LEARNERS
Fabulous work this half term from the year 6s, who have tackled a topic on circuits and electricity. The children are in the process of planning their own science investigations linked to electricity so watch this space when we return after half term to get practical.

Well done Team LL on an incredibly hardworking half term. The class have completed a place value topic and honed their calculation skills by revising formal written methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Who said long division was tricky? Not a problem for the mathematical megaminds in Team LL. Fantastic application and problem solving with properties of number including: primes, squares and cubed numbers. Our final week will be spent tackling tricky problems linked to BODMAS and the order of operations. A successful half term. Well done!
Outstanding literacy work over the last couple of weeks. Team LL have worked really hard to generate ambitious vocabulary and add a range of devices to produce some amazing descriptions of Alex Rider's journey through the Dozmary Mine. I loved reading them! Well done. I am certain we have some budding fiction writers here at Park Street.
I am thrilled to say Team LL have settled back in amazingly well! As we reach our 4th week back, we have already covered lots of learning! We have made outstanding progress with our three week times table challenge. The class have completed a unit on place value - working with numbers up to tens of millions. This week we are revisiting the four operations, revising learning from last year and pushing forward to ensure our arithmetic skills are top notch. In English we are thoroughly enjoying our class novel 'Stormbreaker'. We have been working to improve our reading skills with a focus on vocabulary, inference and prediction. Our most recent written work involved pupils in Team LL writing a letter of advice to Alex Rider. As if that wasn't exciting enough: we have also been exploriong natural disasters researching a range of phenomenon during out Geography topic. In science, we have been exploring circuits and electricity. In art we have been sketching in preparation for our sculpture work later in the term. Keep checking in for further updates!
This week marks 'Barnsley Virtual School Games Challenge'. The aim of the challenge is to provide you with the opportunity to virtually compete in a series of sporting based competitions against other students across Barnsley. Over five days, you will participate in five different events - one event per day. The aim is for you to record your personal best attempts for each activity. If you would like to take part in the event (it is optional), I have attached all the information you will need below and you can download the pack here too. As part of the event pack, there are the following: 1. The daily activities with instructions 2. Results sheets to record the students best attempts 3. Home Results Sheet - for the students who are still at home Once you have completed each event, you will need to send the completed results sheet to [email protected]. Then, once the week of events has been completed, the results will be compiled and winners will be announced the following week. Make sure you tweet a picture or a video of you doing the activity to @WombwellParkSt, @barnsleymoving, @TeamActivPlus and on Facebook - Active in Barnsley and Team Activ are using the #WhatsYourMove. YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR PARENTS PERMISSION TO POST ANYTHING ON SOCIAL MEDIA! Good luck to those who wish to take part. ![]()

Hi Team LL, Please see the attached video Miss Garratt has created. It will give you some help in responding to activities I have posted on Seesaw. Hopefully, it might support you with completing activities and sending finished pieces back to me. Take care, Mrs Longden As a school, we are committed to ensuring your child gets the best possible education that we can offer. The current circumstances are proving to be a bit of a challenge for us all and we know that education is quite difficult at the moment whilst we are facing this pandemic. With this in mind, we have subscribed to the online platform ‘SeeSaw’. SeeSaw is a platform that allows teachers to set home learning for each child in their class. Over the next few days, you will be receiving an email (with an attachment of the document below) that provides you with more information about how Seesaw works and how we are going to use it as a school. You will also receive your child's log on details in this email. Please look out for this arriving in your inboxes. As of Monday 27th April 2020, all learning and activities will be placed on Seesaw and not on class blog pages. Although we will continue to post blogs regularly, we will not be using them to the extent that we have done over the past few weeks, Many thanks for your cooperation and understanding. ![]()
Life and parenting can be challenging in normal situations. The situation we find ourselves in currently is far from normal. We have put together a number of useful links and documents, as well as advice on how to deal with some difficult situations you might find ourselves in. Please take a look at the information below and do not hesitate to contact school if you would like any additional information regarding these topics or anything else you need advice and support about - if we cannot help, we will know who can. ![]()
