Please follow the link https://www.themathsfactor.com/ Good Morning Fabulous Flamingos! I hope you are looking forward to learning at home and you have your pack ready! There are lots of activity ideas in your pack for reading, writing, maths and topic work. Here are some activities you could choose if you would prefer to do one of these.
Phonics - Please watch the Ruth Miskin Read Write Inc. video on YouTube. There are sound cards and words in your home learning packs to use to support this. Try and do some phonics everyday and use the resources in your learning packs. Literacy - Draw a picture of your family in your pink book in your pack and label each person. Write a sentence using your phonics sounds and Fred Talk to tell me who lives in your house. You can tell me a little about what you like to do together. Say the sentence first, over and over until you can repeat it perfectly. Don't forget to pinch your fingers every time you say a word in your sentence so you remember what comes next. Maths - Use your number square to count to 20 and beyond. You can practise counting in 1's. 2's and 10's. Throughout this week practise paying for a snack at home. You may like to make some price tags for some of your choices! You could draw coins on paper and write the value on them. The steps below are a progression of your child's learning so you may not achieve them all or you may find that you can start on step one or two. Step 1 - count in 1p pieces to pay for an item (up to 10p) Step 2 - buy more than one item for snack (finding a total) Step 3 - introduce the 2p coin and make an even amount in 2p pieces. Step 4 - introduce the 10p coin and pay for items in 10p pieces, Step 5- use a variety of 1/2/10p coins to pay for items together. Reinforce learning through the rest of the week and do not feel you have to achieve all of the above. You may focus on just one step that is appropriate to your child. Achieving step 1 is BRILLIANT! Everybody has different experiences of coins and learning how to use it can be tricky. Enjoy your learning! Please try and watch the Ruth Miskin videos on YouTube to support your child's phonics teaching. The information with times available is in your home learning pack.
In preparation for the school closure, please find below information relating to home learning programmes. You will find some details regarding the core subjects (Reading, Writing, Maths) and how these can be accessed each day. In addition to this, you will find some information regarding other curriculum areas as well as a suggested timetable to structure your child's daily learning. These activities have been carefully resourced to ensure that learning can continue as much as possible whilst the school remains closed. Please note that these materials are exactly the same materials as those that will be sent home with the children tomorrow.
Our topic this week has been about woodland animals. We enjoyed learning about animals that are native to the UK and which animals are nocturnal.
We have been saving animals from our "woodland web" using tweezers. We have created pictures of woodland animals using flat shapes and have been designing and labelling our own woodland creatures with a variety of different features. Our story this week was the Gruffalo and we enjoyed making a Gruffalo crumble using oats and a variety of different features the Gruffalo has on his body! In maths we have been learning to name solid shapes and can describe shapes by using words to describe their properties. We have also enjoyed writing some secret notes to our friends and adults in class using our phonics knowledge to help us! We all dressed up as our favourite characters for World Book Day and we looked brilliant! We enjoyed listening to stories and did some independent writing about our favourite book. Our mystery readers this week have been Miss Hodgson, Heidi's mum and Joel's mum! |
