We were very excited to continue our spanish leanring, so much so that there was a small rebellion of singing that started to echo around Team CH.

CH have draw on their Geography focus of the United Kingdom to complete some fantastic Design of buildings we might find in the UK. We have designed castles, farms, Stonehenge and even a fabulous bunkbed! We are the architects and engineers of the future!
This week in PHSE team CH read the story ‘The day the banana went bad’ written by Michelle Robinson. We used this story as a hook into our learning of managing our basic needs. Team CH spent some time talking about the food we enjoy the most and foods that we don’t enjoy. After this, we introduced the vocabulary healthy foods. The children were very knowledgeable about healthy foods and could talk about foods such as, apples, bananas, grapes, lettuce, water, fresh juice, broccoli and many more foods. Finally, the children were supported in creating a poster of healthy foods that they enjoy.
This week we have contniued our music unit that celebrates a wide range of musical styles. We practiced finding a steady beat, repeating rhythm patters using long and short and finally, repeated simple melodic patters using high and low pitch. We really enjoyed singing the song, finding the beat and discovering the Jazz style of music.
CH carried out our pattern seeking investigation. We decided to investigate and find the answer to our big question of do children with the biggest hands have the biggest feet? From this we discussed the similarities and differences between the size of our hand and feet. After we carried out our investigation, we looked at our findings and concluded there was a pattern, children with the biggest hands did have the biggest feet.
We have loved being up an active in our counting! Practicing ordinal counting each day has really helped us in becoming familiar with the flow, sound and sequence of numbers. This week team CH have counted using a number of resources. We have focussed on identified the multiples of ten and how every number one less than a multiple of ten had nine ones. We also spent time counting by identify the ones and tens in a number, for example, counting from forty-two we started four tens and two ones, four tens and three ones, four tens and four ones and so on. Counting this way enabled us to write numbers more accurately and helped embed the knowledge that numbers are made up of tens and ones. Additionally, we continued to count for a ordinal purpose within the setting as children we challenged to count chairs, tables, smiles, shoes, steps, pencils and jumpers.
Today Team CH explored a special story to Christians and Jews. Our story is based on the Bible story of Noah and the ark. In this first session the children were introduced
to Noah. He lives happily with his family, but all around him people are behaving badly. God speaks to Noah and tells him to build an ark. Noah builds the ark and gets it ready for the flood. In this session the children learn a happy dance, then a contrasting angry, stamping dance. They work with a partner, doing different building actions, as they get the ark ready. Finally, our children had the opportunity to continue there learning within our provision and were provided with plenty of talk time to discuss the learning further with their peers or an adult. ,Team CH have been intorduced to a ten minute daily read. Every day for 10 minutes the children have access to books that are phonetically appropriate and accessable to each child. In doing this, we can celebrate every child as a reader and move their lovely faces along our weekly book challenge!
