This week Team CH have been put to the test in their reading. We played an exciting game that challenges our knowledge of special frineds and encourages us to share and help each other.
This week Team CH had a special Visitor. Team CH have continued their learning of animals including humans by meeting some birds of prey. We loved being so close to these brilliant animals and we had so many questions to ask! Team CH learned all about the features of a bird of prey, such as their talons and how some birds, such as Owls have evolved to fly silently through thick woods in order to catch their prey. Additionally, children were able to watch a bird of prey fly outside and observe how this bird would attempt to catch its pray in the wild. Thank you, Miss Fury, for arranging such a brilliant day.
This week Team CH had the most amazing time at the National Emergency Museum. We have learned so much about the great fire of London and really enjoyed travilling through history. Thank you to our special people for making this visit possible!
This Week Team CH were asked, what is more important winning or being a good friend? We eventually agreed that although winning a world cup would be brilliant, it wouldn’t be enjoyable if we didn’t have good friends to share the moment with.
We started by talking to our peers about what a friend is, providing children with an opportunity to develop their oracy skills. After this, we moved on to identifying images of a good friend and explaining why. Finally, we created a good friend collage. This week the children have been investigaiting and constructing a time line to show the events of the great fire of London.
This week in RE team CH have thought about how Jewish people have some religious rule that help them know how to behave. We first thought about rules we have at home and school, then introduced the ten commandments suing this video as a stimulus to learning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1LMfnr7vP0
Finally, we drew pictures to show the rules we have at home and school. Including a rule that Jewish people follow in order to be a good Jew. eChildren were challenged to design a landing craft that protects a Lego plane when it's dropped from up high.
We collected all the materials we named in our initial plan. We knew there was no "right" set of materials, so we needed to be creative and try lots of things to see what worked best! Children drew their ideas on paper and thought about, what does your landing craft look like? What materials will you use? Finally children built their landing device and put the Lego plane inside. Mr Holmes tested the landing crafts out by dropping them from high up. If the Lego plane didn’t break we were successful in our design! If the plane did break we went back and made changes to our design and re-tested it. This week Team CH we transported to the jungle. We had to be quite and crawl along the jungle floor as silently as possible, otherwise we would wake the tigers!
We practiced moving in a variety of ways such as a balancing flamingo, a currying mouse, a leaping kangaroo and a stomping elephant. |
