Eva has enjoyed our measuring challenge and managed to order her toys. She has discovered that she is the biggest!
I can't wait to see how your sunflower grows! WOW! Look at all the amazing learning that Millie has been doing at home over the Easter holidays. I wonder if you have got any butterflies yet?
Good Morning, Shooting Stars, I hope you are all well and keeping busy!
Did you manage to read the story of Jack and the Beanstalk yesterday? The beanstalk was very TALL so we are learning about measuring and comparing the size of different things. Have a go at finding things of different sizes around your house. Can you find something that you think is tall? Can you find something taller? Can you find something shorter? Who is the tallest in your house? Try to use words such as big, small, bigger, smaller, biggest, smallest, tall, taller, tallest, short, shorter shortest, long, longer, longest. If you are feeling really clever, you could get a collection of different objects and see if you could order them by size. Here is a link to some online games which will help you if you would like to have a go: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/interactive.aspx?cat=6 Hello everyone! I hope you are all keeping well and safe and have enjoyed spending lots of time with your families over the Easter break.
Our new theme for learning this half term is 'Watch it Grow' which is all about growing plants. This week, our book of the week is 'Jack and the Beanstalk.' Here is a link to the book online so you can share it with your family: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VCpAYajmvo After you have read the story, see if you can tell it with your grown ups. Can you remember all the events in order? Remember to change your voice for the giant and try to say the repeated words "Fee Fi Fo Fum, I smell the blood of an English man." Can you design your own castle for the giant? You could draw it or paint it or you could use lego or blocks to build it. Alternatively you could make it using cardboard boxes or other materials you have in your house. Ask a grown up to take a photo of your castle and email it FAO Miss McGinnes to [email protected]. I will enjoy seeing your creations, Have fun! We are forever sharing learning resources on our Twitter page @WombwellParkSt
Check it out for some fantastic activities that cover all the different curriculum areas. https://twitter.com/WombwellParkSt Hello! I hope you are all keeping safe and well and have had a lovely weekend!
Miss McGinnes' favourite story is 'Tiddler' by Julia Donaldson. Here is a link if you would like to share it with your child at home: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcTQADUywZY Have fun sharing the story together and then see if you can remember and tell the story with your family. If you are feeling creative, you could draw, paint or make some of your own fish to help you. Number rhymes and songs are great for supporting our Mathematical learning in nursery. Have fun singing 5 Currant Buns with your child:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mi79hRcSXI You could pause the song as each bun is bought and see if your child can work out how many buns will be left each time. Can they show the amounts on their fingers? Use words such as 'take away' and 'less' to support their understanding of the Mathematical vocabulary. Nursery rhymes are great for learning about rhythm and rhyme which are such important pre-reading skills. Joining in with them is also lots of fun for young children! Click the link below and join in with some of the rhymes we sing in nursery:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/curations/nursery-rhymes Have fun and feel free to comment and let me know how you are getting on! In the Shooting Stars we love stories and always share lots every day in nursery! I hope you are enjoying stories at home with your families too!
Here is a link to 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' being read by the author Michael Rosen, if you would like to share it with your child. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gyI6ykDwds See if your child can join in with the repeated phrases and actions as the story progresses! |
