Our new theme for learning this term is Magical Storyland. Each week we will be basing our learning around a different traditional or fairy story,
This week we have begun our new theme with a focus on 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears.' The children have enjoyed sharing different versions of the story and acting it out using finger puppets. They have enjoyed changing their voices for the different characters and have been joining in with the repeated phrases in the story. At snack time, we tasted porridge, like Goldilocks in the story, and the children had the opportunity to write their name on a chart to indicate if they liked the taste or not.

Today in nursery we have had fun making our very own chocolate reindeer. We learnt that at first the chocolate was very hard but when we heated it up in the microwave it melted and went runny. We also found out that the fridge is really cold and the chocolate set when we put it in there.
Look at how fantastic they turned out! Please remember that on Wednesday 18th December it is our nursery Christmas party in the afternoon. All children are invited to join us from 1.00pm until 3,00pm. Please come wearing your party clothes and bring a box with your own food for the party. Parents and carers are invited back at 2.30pm if you wish to see your child receive a present from Father Christmas.
Today was a special day in nursery as our parents and carers were invited to stay and join in our learning. We had a go at lots of different Christmas craft activities together.
Thank you to those who were able to join us. We hope you enjoyed it. Wow! What a fantastic day we have had today, All the children and parents went on an exciting trip to Chatsworth Farm to perform the Nativity. The children got dressed up and performed in a barn with real animals while their parents watched. They were all superstars!
After lunch the children enjoyed exploring the farm, visiting the Christmas market and getting festive in our Christmas craft workshop. Thank you to all the parents and other family members who were able to join us. We hope you had a memorable day! Over the last two weeks we have really enjoyed welcoming lots of new families into our nursery. We are really proud of the way in which they have all settled in and begun to make friends.
The children have enjoyed exploring our continuous provision both inside and outside and the adults have been showing them how to play and learn together. Today we invited our parents and carers to join us for our welly walk at the nature reserve. The children enjoyed showing their special adults around our amazing outdoor learning environment. They went on a minibeast hunt, developed their physical skills on our swinging rope and even had a go at den building.
In order to enhance our learning in our Amazing Animals topic, today we had a visit from Wigfield Farm. We were lucky enough to meet a bearded dragon, a snake and a rabbit. The children enjoyed touching the animals and finding out about how to care for them.
Today we had fun in nursery raising money to support Red Nose Day. All the children came to nursery wearing red and some had red noses and glasses too!
The children enjoyed throwing wet sponges at Miss McGinnes- some of them had a really good aim! Well done to the nursery winners of the design a red nose competition- Scarlett in morning nursery and Sofia in afternoon nursery. This week the children in nursery became Scientists as we carried out lots of fun activities to help us learn about changes. For our first activity, we mixed cornflour and water to make gloop and investigated what happened as we added different amounts of each ingredient. The children were fascinated by the texture! For our second investigation we explored ice. The children found out that the ice melted in the warm classroom but could be changed back to ice again by returning it to the freezer. We also enjoyed melting chocolate! Once we had investigated what happened to the chocolate, we used it to decorate biscuits- yummy!
