This week Team CH have thought about how feelings ca affect our bodies and how feelings can change our behaviour. We know that talking about our feeling can make us feel better.
Today Team CH have been working in pairs. Partner A was red and partner B was blue. Next, two numbers were shown on the board and children had the task of representing their number using counters. After this, we spent time talking about our total number of counters and comparing them with our partners.
In this session, the class began a new unit of writing based on our text driver The tiger who came to tea. This was shared with the class as part of an exciting hook. The highway Rat paid a visit to our class room and had taken our fruit! After sharing the text, the audience and purpose for writing was established. Children were clear that the focus for this unit of writing would be to be able to Form lower case correctly in the correct direction, starting and finishing in the right place and being able to add the suffix ‘ing’ to a root word where no change to the spelling is required. During this lesson, the focus of learning was centred on using inference skills to suggest what is happening or may happen within the story.
This week in Spanish we have added to our ever-growing vocabulary and introduced appropriate responses to the question how are you feeling. Below are a few phrases that we are continuously working on.
Los saludos = Greetings ¡Buenos días! = Good morning! ¡Hola! = Hi! Me llamo… = My name is… ¿Cómo estás? = How are you? Estoy bien = I am well Estoy mal = I am not great Más o menos = So, so Today Team CH explored part three of a special story to Christians and Jews. We went on a long journey across the sea. The rain finally stops and when Noah sends out a dove
it returns with a twig in its beak. Noah and his family have reached dry land. Then God sends a rainbow, which fills the sky. In this session children worked in pairs to make the ark and they travelled through the space, as though they are being tossed up and down on the rough sea. Finally, there is a big procession of animals and with their partner, children make a rainbow, which fills the sky. This week team CH have been developing our keyboard skills and spent time practicing typing and using the mouse to draw a picture. In addition to this we saved our picture and talked about online safety.
Team CH have continued being up an active in our counting! Practicing ordinal counting each day has really helped us in becoming familiar with the flow, sound and sequence of numbers. Additionally, our daily counting has supported us in counting in multiples of 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. Today in Team CH we have enjoyed being up and active as we learnt to join in with a song about height and length. We know that height measures how tall something is and that length measure how long something is. We put actions to the words to help us remember there meaning! Our activities included marking our height on a piece of paper that was stuck to the wall and we could identify who we were taller than and who was shorter than us. We also used straws to blow cotton wool balls and discussed which ball travelled the longest distance and which travelled the shortest distance.
We have been making comparison between children in our class and have discussed and answered ‘who is the tallest?’ and ‘who is the shortest?’. This week Team CH have continued working towards their Geography objectives. We began our session by enjoying our quick question quiz and consolidating previous learning that has taken place. Next, we enjoyed an areal tour of Northern Ireland. We really enjoyed talking about all the things we could see. After this, we introduced the words physical and Human features and gave children talk time to really understand these words. Finally, we challenged the children by presenting them with a selection of Human and Physical features for their selected country and asked the children to group their pictures into physical features and Human features.
