Today we have begun our new theme for learning with a focus on Bonfire Night and Fireworks! The children were very excited to tell us all about the fireworks they had seen and heard over the last few days. At group time, we learnt the Makaton signs for bonfire and fireworks and we watched some fireworks on our interactive whiteboard. We talked about the colours and the sounds and we enjoyed pretending to be fireworks and blasting off into the sky shouting "boom, bang, wheee, wooosh and pop!" Here are some of our provision activities so far this week: We have been creating firework collage pictures by sticking materials onto black paper using glue. Our focus words were "colourful, bright, sparkly and glittery" and we tried to use these words to describe our pictures. In our painting area, we have been creating fireworks using glittery paint to make them sparkle. We tried to create different patterns and used the words "circles, spirals, dots, zig-zags and lines." We used cotton buds to make our patterns which was really good for developing our fine motor control. We have also been creating fireworks using chalks in our mark making area. We tried hard to make lots of different patterns!
