This week we are continuing our "Watch it Grow" theme with a focus on minibeasts. Our book of the week is Mad about Minibeasts and today we read the book and learnt the names of lots of different types of minibeasts. We also used Singing Hands to learn how to say and sign using Makaton- ladybird, spider, worm, caterpillar, butterfly, snail, slug, ant, bee and fly. Over the week we will also be extending our knowledge by learning to name grasshopper, dragonfly, beetle and earwig. We will be saying the names and clapping out the syllables to help us make sure we say all the parts of the word. The older children will also be counting the syllables (claps) and sorting the minibeasts into groups based on how many syllables they have.
