Over the past couple of weeks Team JF have continued to explore the book 'The Lost Happy Endings'. We decided we LOVED this book and wanted to do more with it! From this, we had lots of discussion and decided it would be really cool if we wrote our own alternative endings to the story! We started off by exploring well known traditional tales and unpicking the endings. We then had lots of fun thinking of how they could've ended if we had wrote them! As you can imagine they were very interesting! As our learning progressed, we moved into the acquire stage of our writing and began skill building in preparation for our plan and write next week. Maths Thus week the children worked really hard to identify and make equal groups. To begin with we looked at a range of arrays and discussed our previous learning of equal/unequal groupings to sort them. As our understanding deepened, we moved into making our own equal groups of 2,5 and 10 using cubes. As we made the groups we discussed what our whole number was, what we were grouping this into and how many equal groups we could make. The children worked really hard on this skill and were able to discuss what they were doing with their whole number and justify why they were correct. PE Today the children continue their unit of dance. We recapped our prior learning of this unit by discussing the movements we had already created in previous weeks and compared them to each other. From this, we moved into this week’s movements of birds. The children worked really hard to ensure their movements were realistic, thinking of the way they travel and use their bodies.

Literacy
Over the past couple of weeks Team JF have cantered our learning around the book 'The Lost Happy Endings'. We have read the book lots of times and become familiar with each part. As our understanding deepened, we decided to write a diary entry from the perspective of Jubb! The children have worked incredibly hard to identify the features of a diary and practice the skills. This week, we have planned our diaries and even started writing our first draft! They are already reading FAB! Maths Over the pas two weeks we have been working on multiplication. We started off by exploring equal and unequal groups. From this, we moved into reading and writing arrays to show this. As our learning progressed, we started reading and using the multiplication symbol with a focus on the 2,5 and 10 times tables. History This half term our topic learning has a history focus. Our history focus is castles. So far, we have gathered our existing knowledge and discussed what skills we already have that may help us moving forward. We have also discussed what we will be learning throughout our topic as an introduction. We are very excited and cannot wait to get started next week! |
