A huge well done to all members of Team LG and Team LL for their fantastic performance at St. Mary's Church, Wombwell yesterday afternoon. Every child sang their hearts out and made us feel really proud. A special well done to all our readers and soloists!

This week we had a look at the written method for multiplication, when multiplying by a two digit number. We have found this a challenge and it something we will need to revisit after the Christmas holidays. Literacy During our lessons, we finished publishing our newspaper reports in relation to the Lundhill Colliery Disaster in 1857. We added a headline to grab the reader's attention, as well as an image and caption relating to our articles. We are the next generation of journalists so watch out - our stories will hit the news soon! Team LG and Team LL enjoyed their Christmas party this afternoon. We began with a buffet of sandwiches, pizza, sausage rolls, carrots, cucumber, cake and jelly. Afterwards, we enjoyed party games including pass the parcel, musical statues and four corners. Well done to all our winner - enjoy your sweets!
A great performance at Shipcroft Community Centre today. We sang our hearts out and put on a fantastic show for all those who attended. Well done Team LG!
If you missed out on our amazing singing you can join us at St. Mary's Church on Thursday 19th December where we will be performing alongside Team LL. Maths
This week we have been busy creating 'factor bugs' to ensure we were identifying all factor pairs of given numbers. We found this challenging to begin with to make sure we identified all factors. However, after a bit of practice and working on a strategy to make sure we had all factors we realised we could do it! Yesterday, we had a special visitor in school who complimented on our focus and engagement in our Maths lesson. Well done Team LG! Literacy Throughout our lessons this week we have worked on identifying features of newspaper reports. We recognised that quite often sentences in newspapers contain additional information in brackets and we learnt that this is called parenthesis. We were given the task of identifying if brackets had been used correctly and then had to input brackets into sentences of our own. In addition to this, we have been conducting research about Lundhill mining disaster in preparation for writing our own news articles. Today (Friday), we were lucky to have a visit from Mrs Hitchens who grew up within a coal mining family. She told us all sorts of information and opened our eyes to a world that is completely different from our own. |
