We have come to the end of another term in Team AC and what a fabulous term its been, with lots of learning, creating and fun. We are so proud of all the hard work the children have put in. Homework for the half term is to design and create something to protect an egg from a drop to the ground from a height. This will be used in a science experiment in school after the holidays, you can use materials you may have around the house...tubes, boxes, yoghurt pots, cotton wool the list is endless, we cant wait to see what amazing ideas you come up with. Also we have been working really really hard on our times tables and Team AC are quickly realising that they help with most things in maths! So if you could play hit the button, a free games to play on most devices that would be a great way to keep them fresh in their minds. We have been learning our 2's 5's 10's 3's and 4's. After the holidays we will be looking at our 6's too so they could also get a head start on them too. Team AC love playing this in school also so they should be amazing at it at home too. We hope you all have a fabulous half term break whatever you may be doing. We cant wait to see you all back in April refreshed and ready for our Summer term adventures.

TR - My favourite lesson is maths because we are doing money which I really like, I like learning times tables and learning new things.
Literacy is my least favourite lesson because we have to do big writes and it takes a long time. My favourite thing about school is P.E and getting to play dodgeball. My favourite teachers are Mrs Crossfield and Mrs Allen because they teach us lots of new stuff. HW - My favourite lesson is Spanish because we learn lots of new words and learn a lot through games that are lots of fun. I like maths we've learnt money this week I liked using plastic money to see what adds up to make amounts. I like dictated sentences in literacy too. My favourite teachers are Mrs Crossfield and Mrs Allen because they smile and they're always happy! Maths - Looking at money, what coins and notes there are and their values, how to make amounts, how to make an amount using the fewest coins, adding together coins.
Literacy - writing persuasive letters about plastic pollution, including statements, exclamations, commands and questions. Geography - using an atlas, understanding different climates and why they change closer to and further away from the equator. I.C.T - Using beebots to follow a more complex route that the children have planned and move around an obstacle. Art - using dye to make their tie dye t-shirt for our carnival. Decorating Easter baskets and lots of Easter pictures for colouring. R.E - looking at the story of Easter. Spanish - learning about the way people in Spain celebrate Easter. In science we have been looking into fossils and how they are made and who discovered them. We have learnt that when an animal dies and is buried by sediment, and then the soft parts of the animal decay or decompose, followed by more sediment and compression until its forms rock. Bones start to be dissolved by water underground and the minerals in the water then turn to rock. We made some imprints of shells into salt dough to recreate how a fossil looks. Team AC have really enjoyed their learning today in science. We also looked into Mary Anning who discovered fossils. Literacy - Letter writing, learning subordinating conjunctions. Writing poetry with Conrad to celebrate Nation Poetry day.
Geography - Fact finding about South America. Maths - more fraction work, recapping what we already know, and adding and subtracting fractions. 4 times table practice. Art - Starting to make tie dye t-shirts and designing rain stick (please send in any tubes you have at home, thank you) Introduction into sewing starting with a running stitch. R.E - Ramadan - looking into the festival and what it means for the people who celebrate it. Colouring in prayer mats and writing something we are grateful for. We also gave up our jumpers or cardigans for an alternative we would usually wear on Wednesday. This was the first day of Ramadan where they give up food (fast) between dawn and sunset. P.E - continuing skills in hockey and cheerleading. Science - re capping the rock cycle. Looking more in depth into fossils and how they are made. Researching Mary Anning the lady who first discovered fossils in Lyme Regis. This week to celebrate the National poetry day we had a very special visitor in school to work with all the children in each year group.
Conrad Burdekin - a creative writer, poet and friend of park street came in to create wonderful poems with our children. It's safe to say the children thoroughly enjoyed it and created some amazing poetry. Year 2 children's poem Pizza Get the pizza from the shop hold it tight and do not drop! Take it home with a STOMP! STOMP! STOMP! Gobble it down with a CHOMP! CHOMP! CHOMP! Year 3 Children's poem Let's go to the globe Watch a play William Shakespeare Here today Juliet spoke from high above "Romeo! Romeo! I'm in love!" Amazing poems team AC, Well done! Well Red nose day at Park street was an absolute blast. First thing in team AC we took a photo of every child pulling their silliest face! (This made us all laugh) what we did with them will be on show soon...watch this space. Throughout the rest of the day children had some juice, made their own red nose day biscuit and played some games. After dinner the most exciting race since the Olympics happened with teachers and TA's taking part, votes were cast by the children and Mr Smith and Mr Davidson were the favourites.... but to level the playing field they had some extra clothing to wear... haha be sure to spot it on out photos or ask the children if they haven't already told you all about it. What a wonderful day we had! In our ICT lessons this half term we have been learning how to programme out beebot with instructions to get it to move in the directions we want them to go. The children are all really enjoying the topic and getting the hang of it.
This week KS1 were lucky enough to have a visit from an animal workshop!
Team AC had an amazing morning looking at some lovely animals and creatures, we got to see: lion haired rabbit chinchilla tortoise lizard millipede hedgehog skinny pig and a snake. As we were snowed off Thursday and Friday last week this will be the last two weeks learning:
