What an absolutely gorgeous piece of art we have in our classroom thanks to Mrs Crossfield's Thursday Art Club!
This afternoon we have been busy learning about the parts and functions of a plant. We have learnt about the roots, stem, leaves, flower, seeds and fruit and now we know what all of these parts do to help the plant grow.
Do you know what the parts of a plant do? We have also enjoyed working with partners to produce collage pictures to show what we have learnt. SCIENCE + ART = A FUN afternoon of learning! This afternoon we have been looking at plants and identifying the main parts. We have enjoyed working in teams and investigating a wide range of different plants.
Team AC will be reading books by the Author, Anne Fine this year.
We have started by reading the 'Diary of a killer cat' as a class - we think that Tuffy the cat is very naughty but funny! We are researching Anne Fine in our literacy sessions and we are working towards writing a biography of her life. Do you know anything about Anne Fine? What can you find out? Anne Fine Facts for Kids (kiddle.co) http//kids.kiddle.co/Anne_Fine This week in science we have been learning about what things a plant needs to be healthy.
We are testing out our thoughts on some plants that Mrs Greenhalgh brought in for us. We have put the plants around the classroom and they each have specific conditions that we are testing (see diagram above). We predict that plant 1 will be the healthiest as it has all the things available to t that plants need and that plant 4 will be the unhealthiest as it has not water or sunlight. We will see what happens after a couple of weeks...watch this space... |
