We FINALLY had a sunny day so we could get back out on the field and do some exercise. Before the holidays we ran one lap of the field and have been waiting to get back out there and do two laps!
The day finally came and we rose to the challenge! We talked about facing a challenge and how we can approach it in different ways. We discussed that a challenge for them may be too tricky or too easy for others so everyone can achieve the goal at their own pace. We either walked, jogged or ran to complete our first lap of the field and some of us did a mixture of all three. We sat down and felt our heart beat and talked about the effects that the exercise had had on our bodies. We were raring to go for our second lap and we completed that too! What an achievement! Next time we will aim to complete two laps again, and if some of the Rainbows would like an further challenge they can aim for three laps. Here we are keeping fit and healthy!

Here are just two of our Rainbows that we have celebrated this week. One Rainbow was in the golden book for being incredibly kind and caring to their friends and for being a star in phonics to learn new sounds!
The other Rainbow achieved a special lunchtime award from the dinner staff for always having exceptional manners. Wow Rainbows! We are so proud of you! Keep it up! This week we have been revisiting some of our previous learning to help us recall our number facts fast. We have been doubling numbers and know that to double a number means to add the same number again. We have played a matching game to see if the cards were doubles or not, and worked out doubles using a mirror. We started off the session by recapping numbers that make another number. We matched the numeral card to the Numicon pieces and told our partner which two numbers made that number.
We also practised recalling number bonds to 5 and then 10. We made a bus in our classroom and counted the passengers to start with. When some got off the bus we said how many were left, how many had got off and how many that was altogether. We had lots of fun making 5 in different ways! |
