Maths
This week we have completed the second week of our tables races and what a success it has been! All children have improved their score and time from the first day - great job Team LG! Keep up your hard work! In addition, we have continued with our topic of Place Value, specifically making numbers through the use of concrete resources and understanding the value of each digit in larger numbers.. Literacy We have continued studying The Highwayman and have focused on the language used within the poem. In our writing lessons, we have been acquiring skills that we will need to use when writing our own ghost story. These include: fronted adverbials, suspense and tension and use of speech.

Welcome back to Team LG and all the other Park Street children. We hope you have had a wonderful summer and are now feeling refreshed and ready for a new school year. In Team LG, we have had a busy week getting to know one another and we have completed lots of fun activities to settle us back into the 'new' routine. We have:
Chosen our class name Created our class vision Decided on our class specific rules Participated in some maths and literacy activities Created some pieces of art work It's been a hectic but fun week and lovely to see all the children's smiling faces once again. We have some exciting plans for the future so keep looking out for regular blog posts to see what we've been up to. As we come to the end of a successful but very strange school year, I have been able to look back on all the progress we have made as individuals and together as a team. Sitting here and writing this, I am able to say how privileged I am to have been able to work with such a fantastic group of children every single day. Team LG, you are not only an incredibly bright and hard working bunch of children, you are also a group of young people who have shown great determination and resilience to learning. Your commitment to developing new skills in Reading, Writing and Maths (as well as other areas of the curriculum) is beyond extraordinary. I am extremely grateful to have been the teacher of thirty-five children who have a passion to succeed.
I would like to thank you all for a fantastic school year. Although the time we spent together was very short in comparison to other academic years, it has been an absolutely incredible one and certainly one I will never forget. You each have such incredible personalities that has brought much joy and laughter to my classroom so I would like to say a huge thank you for being you! I wish you all a very happy six weeks holiday. Have a very well deserved rest, take care and most of all STAY SAFE. Lots of love to each and everyone of you, Miss Garratt Hi Team LG, Here is a timetable of activities produced by Team+ that you could do over the holidays. It's not an expectation at all, just some ideas for yourselves and your family. Miss Garratt
Unfortunately, this year, Beat the Street cannot take place in the same way that it did last year. Instead, Beat the Street have created a ‘Barnsley Summer Challenge’ to help keep you and your family active over the summer. If you would like to take part, the challenge begins next Monday (13th July). Take a look at the attachment that contains all the information you need. To those who are taking part, good luck!

Dear Parent/Carer,
We want to make you aware of a LIVE assembly we have organised for our pupils (both those in school and at home) linked to the importance of online safety. The assembly will take place on Thursday 9th July at 2pm and will be linked to ‘Be Internet Legends’, an online safety programme fully funded by Google. ‘Be Internet Legends’ is a multifaceted program developed by Google and Parent Zone to teach children the skills they need to be safe and confident online. The live assembly is developed by Google and Parent Zone’s expert teams and live-streamed from their studio by experienced presenters. The assembly is a bespoke session and aims to be an interactive educational adventure through the world of ‘Be Internet Legends’. The session will be presented live so that pupils at home and school can both get involved – and take part in the fun! The platform used to live stream the assembly on is Youtube. The developers of the assembly will send us a link prior to the scheduled date, which we will forward on to parents/carers by email. The assembly is designed for Key Stage 2 students; however, it is entirely up to you if you would like your child to take part – the more pupils the better! This is a chance to involve the whole school community. Many thanks for your continued support, Mr Fidment and Miss Garratt (Online Safety Leads) Please see the attached file for any resources linking to today's lesson on Seesaw.
Hi Team LG, Next week marks 'Barnsley Virtual School Games Challenge'. The aim of the challenge is to provide you with the opportunity to virtually compete in a series of sporting based competitions against other students across Barnsley. Over five days, you will participate in five different events - one event per day. The aim is for you to record your personal best attempts for each activity. If you would like to take part in the event (it is optional), I have attached all the information you will need below. As part of the event pack, there are the following: 1. The daily activities with instructions 2. Results sheets to record the students best attempts 3. Home Results Sheet - for the students who are still at home Once you have completed each event, you will need to send the completed results sheet to [email protected]. Then, once the week of events has been completed, the results will be compiled and winners will be announced the following week. Make sure you tweet a picture or a video of you doing the activity to @WombwellParkSt, @barnsleymoving, @TeamActivPlus and on Facebook - Active in Barnsley and Team Activ are using the #WhatsYourMove. YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR PARENTS PERMISSION TO POST ANYTHING ON SOCIAL MEDIA! Good luck to those who wish to take part. Miss Garratt
