I like music and playing the xylophones because when we learn notes and hit them in order, we are actually making music. MM - I like when I get to quiet read in class, my book is so interesting, it is about dogs and reminds me of my dog. I really enjoyed the trip to Murton Park and having a little sleep on the coach, I've never been on a coach before. I enjoyed dressing up as a Roman for the day, but I didn't like having to be a boy all day because the Romans didn't have girls in the Roman army. Every week I enjoy playing with my friends and helping my teachers. On Monday the 21st of November, on quite a chilly day! Team AC went to a place called Murton Park, to learn all about the Romans. All of the children were super excited to get on a coach, some for the first time ever! When we got to Murton Park we were greeted by a Roman man who got us into 4 groups and told us some Roman words to use when walking, Romans used the Latin words sin and dex for left and right.
When addressing the roman Centurian we had to say "yes Centurian"! We marched to what be our Roman camp for the day (sin, dex, sin, dex.) The children were shown to their barracks and got dressed in a Roman smock and rope. We were shown around the many buildings. Through the day we took turns in our groups; we made an oil lamp they had in Roman times to light up rooms, using clay. We wrote a contract using Roman letters and numerals. We learnt to be in the Roman army, we used a sword and shield to attack a sandbag and threw javelins at the enemy. Later we all came together to march and scare off the Celts. The barracks where the homes Romans would have lived in and as such, we had dinner in them, stored our belongings and got in and out of our Roman clothes in there too. We left with lots of Roman knowledge that we didn't have before, lots of new Roman words, things that we have made through the day and a days pay in a replica Roman coin. We went back to the coach a little cold, wet and tired but after having a fantastic day. All of Team AC were amazing and should be so proud of themselves for how they behaved for the whole day, because all of the teachers and assistants in Team AC are super proud of them! Children in Need 2022 in Team AC has been a blast, we have had a hunt for Pudsey's spots in the playground, The children were super speedy. We have had buns, guessed smarties in jars and played games. Lots of Team AC came dressed up in spots or something Pudsey. At the end of the day children all made their own Pudsey ears headband to take home with them. What a fantastic day.

![]() Anti-bullying week started this week with odd sock day, all of our children were invited to wear odd socks and Team AC wore fabulous socks! This week we have been watching the song 'Calling out' https://youtu.be/NNR2eyOzLKw a song made to help children to understand they can call out bullying happening to themselves or others around them, we really liked the message. Team AC spoke a lot around what bullying is and why it's not ok, and how it impacts others.
We also did some work this week around friendships and how important being a good friend is. Team AC children were great at contributing to the conversations and came up with great ideas of how they are great friends to others and what they could do if someone was alone or sad. Great work Team AC! |
